Roy sans bandage
Roy got his bandage off today. As you can see there is a small area that hasn't closed up yet. He will have to wear his e-collar for another week to keep him from licking it. We are on our own as far as care goes now. We just have to keep him from damaging the very tender area where the new skin has grown over his wound.

Update on Roy
Roy's pathology report came back. There were no malignant cells in the margins! We have been going in twice a week for bandage changes, and it looks like Mother Nature is going to take care of the wound without skin grafts. We are very grateful to the UGA Veterinary staff for their skill and support for us in caring for Roy. After several more bandage changes, he will be his old happy, carefree self again sporting a large scar that will eventually be covered over with fur.

Roy back home after surgery
Roy spent 5 nights at the UGA Vet Hospital. We are still waiting on the Pathology report, but hopefully, his wound will heal without skin grafts and he will be his old happy self again!

Roy's swollen leg
I discovered this huge lump on Roy's leg and took him to the Vet. She thinks it might be an insect/spider bite. He hates his e-collar, but needs to keep his mouth off his "hurt place." We are treating him with multiple drugs and hopefully, the swelling will go down!

Happy Father's Day!
The boys "made" Dad a Father's Day card, paw prints and all. Mom made him his favorite: Lemon Meringue Pie for dinner last night. This morning we had home made sticky buns. YUM, YUM!

Corneal dystrophy/Lipid keratopathy
This Spring has been a terrible year for pollen. I was constantly cleaning the "boogers" out of Andy and Roy's eyes. However, Roy's left eye seemed much worse. He had secretions running down the side of his face. When he didn't get any better, I took him to our local Vet. She prescribed steroids for a week. When we went back, there was no change, so off to a vet ophthalmologist. $300 poorer, we find he has a genetic condition called both corneal dystrophy or lipid keratopathy. He is on three medications at the moment to try and clear up the irritation in his eye. I think he will have to be on medication for the rest of his life. It is rare for this disease to cause blindness, so I am hoping we can keep it in check.
Because Phil was at the dentist and Andy has never been alone without Roy or one of us, I took Andy to the eye appointment too. When I put Roy up on the examining table, I told Andy to sit. He sat by my chair and DID NOT MOVE! He did not lie down or move a muscle the whole time Roy was being examined. The doctor said she wanted me to take her dogs home with me to train them. I told her, it wasn't so much my training, as Andy was scared to death he might be next!

Happy Mother's Day!
The boys gave me a white/pink Hydrangea this year instead of my normal blue one. They couldn't find a really pretty blue one. I think this one is beautiful too.

I need some lovin'!
Often when I am on the computer, Andy will come and nudge me to "get up." He wants some LOVIN'! Tonight I took a picture of us on my Photo Booth on the computer. We are sitting in front of the computer and it takes the picture. Neat huh??!!

To cut or not to cut?
Do we cut the "dragging the floor" fur on Andy and Roy's chest or not? It is so pretty, but it gets so dirty!!!

High Five
I saw Bo Obama give Oprah a High Five and decided that Bo had nothing on my boys! I taught Andy in two lessons and Roy quickly caught on when a Greenie was the reward!
